Who We Are.
Founded in Galitzia in 1913, Hashomer Hatzair is a global youth movement that has made space for youth to take ownership over their education, culture, values and community. Hashomer Hatzair first came to North America in 1923, as Shomrimot emigrated from Eastern Europe.
Today, Camp Shomria continues to be the only truly youth-led summer camp in North America, where young people live an immersive communal lifestyle and develop their identities as activists and Jews through the lens of our ideological pillars: Socialism, Progressive Zionism and Humanistic Judaism.
